SAN DIEGO, May 23, 2017 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- American Assets Trust, Inc. (NYSE:AAT) (the “Company”) and American Assets Trust, L.P. (the “Operating Partnership”) announced today the closing of a privately placed debt offering of $100,000,000 of twelve-year senior guaranteed notes (the “Series E Notes”) by the Operating Partnership. The Series E Notes are unsecured, will pay a fixed interest rate of 4.24% and are due on May 23, 2029.
Prior to closing, the Operating Partnership entered into a treasury lock contract to reduce the interest rate variability exposure of the projected interest cash outflows under the then-prospective private placement of the Series E Notes described above. As a result, net of the settlement of the treasury lock contract, the fixed interest rate in accordance with GAAP for the Series E Notes is approximately 4.18% per annum, through maturity.
The Company intends to use the proceeds from the private placement of the Series E Notes to repay outstanding amounts on its credit facility and for other general corporate purposes.
